Wow, thanks for the great schedule Tanya, now we can make much more accurate approximations when needed. I modified it a little because I found it really hard to read and wanted a schedule that we could work from to create our complimentary volunteer schedule. *9-9:30: reserved show #1 9:35-9:47 open show 9:52-10:04 open show 10:09-10:21 open show *10:30-11: reserved show #2 11:05-11:17 open show 11:22-11:34 open show 11:39-11:51 open show 11:56-12:08 open show 12:13-12:25 open show 12:30-12:42 open show 12:47-12:59 open show 1:04-1:16 open show 1:21-1:33 open show 1:38-1:50 open show *2-2:30: reserved show #3 (2:35-2:47 open show) ***I suggest this time as a break time*** *3-3:30: reserved show #4 3:35-3:47 open show 3:52-4:04 open show 4:09-4:21 open show *4:30-5: reserved show #5 5:05-5:17 open show 5:22-5:34 open show 5:39-5:51 open show 5:56-6:08 open show 6:13-6:25 open show 6:30-6:42 open show 6:47-6:59 open show --Jenny the synthesizer |

I agree that since there will be 3 planetarium people there and because they've done this before, they may have a plan themselves already to handle breaks. I think downtime is commonplace and will happen and I'd guess they'd want to maximize the downtime for breaks and to maximize the busy times for doming it up. So for a head count here's what I can surmise (and then it's off to studying for like days, so aside from a cup-update don't expect to hear from me for a bit): 23 open shows = (if filled to max. capacity for each show, which won't happen) 575 laying down or 345 sitting, the average of these is 460. PLUS 5 reserved shows = (if filled to max. capacity for each show, which won't happen) 125 At most we will have the potential for 700 viewers. ....not bad. Should we create a comment box? We also need "teaser" flier ASAP. --Jenny the tired |

I don't think that there should be a break from 2:30 to 3...we can get a show in there, then they have a 15 minute break before the reserved show at 3. |

I guess the question is this: how do you define a break? A time when the dome is not running where we all could potentially leave or a time when just the exploradome people could all be gone or a time when one of the exploradome people could be gone. Because I don't know specifically what you and Bryan mean it's more difficult to make meaningful suggestions. My assumption is that the both of you are trying to make sure that Sally isn't stuck giving shows from 9-5pm without a break. If this is the case, I don't think that's something we need to schedule for her I think it's something she needs to tell us. Since she will be there, is arranging to find someone else and Kirk is under the impression Parke will be there, I think they may be able to cover the whole time. Is Sally the only one who can guide a show? I thought 2:30-3pm would be a good idea under the circumstances that she would want to shut down shows for an "off-site" break. It's true we can get a show in there, but if she were to need a time, it'd only be one show off the roster and after a lengthy time of business. --Jenny the clarifier |

I think the easiest best thing to do is to let Sally know that we planned the schedule with the idea that we needed to get the reserved shows advertised and booked but that the open shows and times are flexible. Let her know that we are wanting to maximize reaching the largest amount of the student body possible and that we planned the rest of the schedule to do that but we realize she might want a scheduled break. Ask her if she does/doesn't and/or how they do things at other events. Parke made it sound like it's a pretty flexible operation. I'd like it to be conveyed that we are ready to "jump into their flow," and support them as best we can. --Jenny the hostess --Last edited by Jenny K. on 2008-02-04 13:35:31 -- |

Reserved Show breakdown: #1: Science Club #2: Astronomy class Parke mentioned to have a show at 3pm for the maintenance crew because that's when they get here....do we need to make sure that they can indeed view it at this time? Assuming he's correct: #3: Science Club #4: Maintenance Staff #5: Astronomy Class All reserved shows will be Zoom. |

Sally, right now, is the only presenter for the programs. Parke doesn't do any of the presenting...he is a Planetarium/Astronomy/professor person to generate assistance and excitement. As far as I know. Sally is checking with the other person that presents to make sure he can come. When she knows, we'll then have two presenters. I'm not sure if that means that the Exploradome can be run the entire time without shutting it down. Somewhere on here is a list of requirements. |
